Individual Lesson


Individualized one-on-one instruction in the English language begins at the most basic levels and rises to the level of those who have mastered the subject and wish to become the best they can be. Personal tutoring at this level, utilizing "Skype" technology, is a unique approach allowing for immediate response between the student and the tutor. One-on-One learning has shown itself to be the most intense and fastest way to learn a subject, without the distractions so often found in a group setting.


In sessions that are tailored to the specific needs of the student, our tutors utilize the skills of the spoken word, written word, textbooks, homework, classic English stories, and patient pronunciation to help a student become more and more proficient in English. This allows each student to work at his or her own pace without having to compete with others in a classroom for the attention fo the teacher. 

The focus in on comprehension and achieving the expected results so that students may advance through the levels and reach their goals.

  01. The Elementary Level


Phonics

All language studies begin with basic conversation, and phonics is part of this process. Sounding out words critical to young students who will learn how English words should sound. The English alphabet, consonants, vowels, and simple English words help the student to begin to understand a whole new language.

Reading and Grammar

_

These lessons introduce the student to basic reading and English grammar - the building blocks of the language - and nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, direct objects, indirect objects, prepositions and other parts of speech and mechanical aspects of the language are carefully explained to the student - either in the one-to-one format on Skype, or, if preferred, in a group setting.



  02. The Middle School Level


Intermediate Instruction

The textbooks used at this level focus on vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading aloud, pronunciation, writing, and most importanaly, comprehension. A greater understanding of English is required at this level, and the student is expected to show improvement as he or she increases in their ability to speak, read and write the English language.

High Intermediate Level

At this level news articles are used to stimulate students to progress in their speaking and writing ability. internet Video Lectures (TED Talks) are also utilized to help develop student's abilities in listening, speaking and writing.



  03. The High School Level


Structured Classes

_

The focus at this level is on writing assignments related to news articles or Internet Based Test(IBT) topics. Classes in English conversation are centered on summaries of writing assignments. The proficiency level is expected to be higher than at the previous levels, and the performance of students is evaluated by BoK instructors and supervisors to determine when they can move onto the next level.

Free Talking

Conversational English allows both students and teachers to choose their own topics.
Students are encouraged to talk about themselves and the things that interest them. Teachers monitor students in the areas of proununciation, their command and use of vocabulary, and the all important area of correct intonation.
As with areas of English, continuing practice helps lead students to increased confidence, control and success.


Group Lesson


Under the guidance of a Korean-speaking language instructor licensed by the Korean Minister of Education, classes in English grammar are taught in a small group environment.
The emphasis is on learning the so-called "buildings blocks" of English grammar, and the practical rules and regulations governing governing proper usage.


To prepare students for the English curriculum at their schools, basic grammatical concepts are illustrated using textbooks, instruction, parts of speech - nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adberbs, - and the rules necessary to speak and write proper English. Students are also taught accurate translation methodology to help develop their vocabulary and reading comprehension. 


Private lessons for those who prefer individualized instruction are also available in a one-on-one setting with an instructor.


College & Corporate Lesson


These Instructions are designed to the specific needs of the student, our tutors utilize the skills of the spoken word, written word, textbooks, and pronunciation to help a student become more and more proficient in English. This allows each student to work at his or her own pace without having to compete with others in a classroom for the attentiion of the teacher.
The focus is on comprehension and achieving the expected results so that students may advance through the levels and reach their goals.

  01. Adult & College Level


Structured Classes

In This class the focus is on IBT(Internet Based Test) speaking and conversation exercises based on newspaper articles dealing with contemporary information. The emphasis here is on developing a smoothness and fluidity of speech allowing the student to master the spoken language and to work towards being able to speak English well with others.

Free Talking

_

Just as the title implies, being able to talk "freely" with others is the goal. Students and teachers are free to choose conversation topics that interest them. The instructor's focus is to monitor the student's pronunciation, vocabulary usage, intonation and skill level, and to correct and guide the student as needed.

  02. Professional Level(Adult)


Structured Classes

The emphasis here is on the use of everyday English, idiomatic expressions, reading and writing for everyday needs. The goal in learning any language is to ve able to speak and communicate effectively with others who speak a language as their "native" tongue.

Free Talking

_

Students and teachers may choose mutually agreed upon topics to discuss. The instructor monitors the student's use of language, pronunciation, sentence structure, vocabulary, intonation, and general ease (or difficulty) in speaking English. Through repetition and careful pronunciation, the instructor encourages the student to carefully repeat words that may be difficult and guides the student to correct pronunciation.

  03. Business Level


If the business of business is conduction business, then the business of BoK Tutor is to help students become confident and comfortable in so-called "Business Speech", enabling and guiding students towards the goals of:

  01. Studying Abroad(United States)


Intensive preparatory classes for examinations in IBT(Internet Based Test), Test of English as a Foreign Language(TOEFL), Scholastic Aptitude Test 1 and 2(SAT 1, SAT 2), Graduate Record Exam(GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test(GMAT).

  • IBT (Internet Based Test) : Required to study English in another Country.
  • TOEFL : Required for entrance to U.S middle/high school, colleges and universities.
  • SAT 1 : Required for nearly all Undergraduate programs at U.S colleges and universities.
  • SAT 2 : Required for a new universities in U.S for specific courses.
  • GRE : Required for humanities, Sciences and Engineering fields in the U.S
  • GMAT : Required for Business/Management Programs all over the world.


We also offer the preparation and review of major courses for American Middle and high Schools in history, mathematics, science and other subjects.

  02. Translation Service 


We offer translation services in English, Korean, Spanish and Italian. Our translators have excellent backgrounds in business, engineering and science. The final drafts of our work are edited by native-speakers of the specific language require.
